Thomson Corp. and Reuters Group PLC agreed on terms for a merger valued at about £8.7 billion ($17.24 billion) in cash and stock, cinching a deal that the two news and data providers outlined earlier this month.
Reuters Chief Executive Officer Tom Glocer, 47 years old, will become CEO of the combined company, named Thomson-Reuters. Thomson Chief Executive Richard Harrington, 60, has agreed to retire, the companies have said. The Thomson family of Canada will hold 53% of a combined company.
This will be an incredible combination once it gets approved by regulators.
