From Forbes Magazine article:

U.S. advertising spending on user-generated content is expected to
surge more than eightfold from $450 million in 2006 to $4.3 billion in
2011, research firm eMarketer said Wednesday.

But one of the biggest hold up to the growth of this market are copyright issues that large audience sites are still facing … and that explains the rush to develop good filtering approaches and technologies.
